"There's no pressure besides what we put on ourselves to win. We prepared and the goal was to finish this job. And this is the last part of that job to finish," said Grant Union High School Head Coach Carl Reed.

"They're SoCal Regional champions," said Reed about La Serna. "It's going to come down to the way they play. They're a physical team. They play great defense."

And even though the team is there on a business trip, Reed said he wants them to get something out of this experience.

"I want them to have the experience of a lifetime," Reed said. "But the biggest part is the win. They have to get that."

Grant Union High School defeated the Rocklin High School Thunder 41 to 14 to advance to the state championship game.

In 2022, Grant Union High School defeated San Jacinto High School in the championship game. In the previous year, they were winless at 0-9.
