PHOENIX — The stage is set for an epic matchup in the 2024 college football national championship game.
On Monday, Jan. 8, the Washington Huskies will take on the Michigan Wolverines for a shot at the national title. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time and the game will air on ESPN.
NRG Stadium in Houston, the home of the Houston Texans, will be the venue for the game as fans from across the world will tune in for what is expected to be a great game.
If the college football playoff games are any indication, fans should be in for a wild ride.
Michigan came out on top in the Rose Bowl after a thrilling touchdown run by Blake Corum in overtime. The Wolverines beat the Alabama Crimson Tide 27-20.
It was a back-and-forth fight for most of the game between the Huskies and Texas Longhorns, but Washington came away with a 37-31 victory in the Sugar Bowl.
Now the Huskies and Wolverines are headed for a highly anticipated matchup between unbeaten teams in the national championship game.

Arizona sports
The city of Phoenix is home to five major professional sports league teams; The NFL's Arizona Cardinals, NBA's Phoenix Suns, WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury, MLB's Arizona Diamondbacks and NHL's Arizona Coyotes.
The Cardinals have made State Farm Stadium in Glendale their home turf and the Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix is home to both the Suns and the Mercury. The Indoor Football League’s Arizona Rattlers play at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale. The Coyotes play at Mullett Arena on ASU's Tempe campus.
Phoenix also has a soccer team with the USL's Phoenix Rising FC, who play at Phoenix Rising FC Stadium in Phoenix.
The Valley hosts multiple major sporting events on a yearly basis, including college football's Fiesta Bowl and Guaranteed Rate Bowl; the PGA Tour’s highest-attended event, the WM Phoenix Open; NASCAR events each spring and fall, including Championship Weekend in November; and Cactus League Spring Training for 15 Major League Baseball franchises.
