'I knew Jeff Saturday's butt cheeks as well as anybody': Peyton Manning talks about former center

In separate interviews, the former, longtime quarterback-center pair confirmed their confidence in recognizing each others' touch.

DENVER — Longtime Indianapolis Colts teammates Peyton Manning and Jeff Saturday are familiar with each other. Very familiar.

The longtime quarterback-center pair that played 13 seasons and an NFL record 170 games together from 1999 to 2011 made headlines this week for recalling just how well they knew each other.

It began on last weekend's ManningCast of the Monday Night Football game between the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans.

The guest, comedian Nate Bargatze, asked Peyton and his brother Eli Manning some questions about the relationship between quarterback and center.

"It's a comfort thing," Eli said in response to Bargatze. "You don't want to go around that area of too many people."

"You kinda want your hands to be for one set of butt cheeks, Nate," Peyton chimed in to add. "So you don't really want to share that with several. You try to stay loyal."

"Could you blindfold, and have your hands under, and tell who it is?" Bargatze asked.

"Yeah, 100%," Eli answered.

"I could, for sure," Peyton added. "I knew Jeff Saturday's butt cheeks as well as anybody. I don't think you ever want to use blindfold and butt cheeks together very often..."

At that point, Eli was ready to move on.

"Can we stop using the word 'butt cheeks,'" Eli interjected.

Saturday, who appeared later in the week on Barstool Sports podcast Pardon My Take, confirmed that he could also recognize Peyton's hands without a shadow of a doubt.

"If you were blindfolded, could you tell Peyton Manning's hand in your [***] apart from Aaron Rodgers' hand?" host PFT Commenter asked.

First, Saturday took exception to the phrasing used.

"I don't like the way you're framing that," Saturday said. "Nothing's 'in,' it's placed 'on.' No 'in.' I don't like the way you were trying to lead on that question."

Saturday then said he never had a doubt when it was Peyton.

"I could 100% tell it was Peyton, for sure," Saturday said. "I played with the dude 13 years, so I'd hope I'd recognize the way that he would take a snap, as opposed to everybody else."

Saturday did clarify that he wasn't *that* familiar with Peyton, though.

"I don't know the softness of his hand, any of that, none of that," Saturday was quick to clarify.

Saturday also said the comments were typical of the jokester Peyton Manning.

"By the way, he does this every year," Saturday added. "He loves to take a little shot and just leave it out there. I mean, I've answered this question a thousand times this week, and he just sits back and sends a little text, 'Hope you enjoy that. Happy holidays, Merry Christmas to you and yours.'"
