YOSEMITE VALLEY, Calif. — A rockfall has blocked over 1,000 feet of trail in Yosemite National Park, according to officials.

The rockfall happened around 11:23 p.m. Monday above the John Muir Trail between Clark Point and the top of Nevada Fall. Hundreds of boulders fell, bringing down trees and other debris onto the trail with them, according to Yosemite National Park officials.

Gates leading to the John Muir Trail at Clark Point and the top of Nevada Fall are closed. Officials highly recommend visitors stay out of the area for safety.
