SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Freeze Warning was issued by the National Weather Service for the Valley throughout the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to drop near or below freezing from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings, according to the NWS.

Officials recommend protecting people, pets, plants and pipes — meaning act now before the weather cools to dangerous temperatures. See below for a list of warming centers opening up in Sacramento.

Plants sensitive to the cold should be brought in or covered, pipes should be prepared for the potential of freezing and check on the elderly, unhoused and pets to ensure they're doing well.

Gusty winds, frost and fog in some areas are expected Friday into Saturday night, according to the NWS.

While the lows will be near freezing, highs will be slightly lower than average and hover in the low 60's, high 50's with sunny and dry conditions.

These near-freezing mornings are likely to last through the middle of next week.

The next chance for showers in our area will arrive towards the first weekend in December.
