New Folsom bungee fitness gym bounces onto business scene

The owner said she was inspired to open after seeing exercises on social media

FOLSOM, Calif. — A new business has bounced onto the scene in Folsom.

Flying High-Sling Bungee Fitness opened Nov. 1 in Willow Creek Plaza on Blue Ravine Road and offers low-impact, high intensity workouts conducted in a harness hanging from the ceiling.

Evelyn Witter, 62, owns the studio and was inspired to open it in the Folsom area after seeing there were not many bungee-exercise gyms in Northern California.

“I saw it on social media,” Witter said. “I was interested in it because I have back problems. I Googled, and there was nothing around Folsom.”

Witter said she took it upon herself to seek out bungee training. She said she soon found Sling Bungee Fitness in Oklahoma, owned and operated by Candace Willaims.

Witter flew out to spend up to five hours a day in the harness walking, running or performing jumping jacks during a two-day training with Williams, she said. Then, she took those practices back to California to open her own studio. She said she operates the business with her daughter and a life-long family friend.

“It was a risk, but I believe in it,” Witter said. “I believe that people will feel the benefits I do."

The studio offers 30-minute cardio workouts. The first class is free, and after that, a single class is $20, or customers can purchase a 10-class bundle for $180, according to the studio website.

“Folsom is the perfect middle point for people to come and visit,” Witter said. “The population seems to keep growing. People are coming from El Dorado Hills and Sacramento. The farthest client comes from Lincoln.”

She said a majority of her clients are women above 40, her oldest being a 76-year-old woman.

Flying High-Sling Bungee Fitness is normally open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. They are open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

They are closed from Monday, Nov. 20, through Monday, Nov. 27, and will reopen Tuesday, Nov. 28.
