Folsom Ice Rink opens after upgrades for 2023-24 season

Here's everything you need to know about the new rink.

FOLSOM, Calif. — The Folsom Historic District Association’s ice rink is open for the 2023-2024 season after $800,000 in upgrades.

The rink opened Friday, Nov. 10, and will close Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, according to the district’s executive director, Judy Collinsworth.

This year, the rink features upgrades including improved ice quality and a new layout with more room for fire pits and seating. It's located around the railroad turntable in the plaza of historic Folsom.

There are sessions every two hours Monday through Wednesday from 2-10 p.m., Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and lessons on Saturday mornings from 9-9:45 a.m.

Tickets are $20 per person and include skate rentals. Children ages 4 through 9 are $16 per person. Fire pits cost $100 per session, and a s’mores kit that feeds up to 10 people costs $25.

Last year, the ice rink was moved to a nearby parking lot while the upgrades were underway.

Collinsworth says the upgrades were funded by the association and cost $800,000 over five years. They include equipment ordered from Italy.

“The seasonal ice rink brings the charm and sense of community here to a whole other level,” she said. “It is beautiful, and even those who don't ice skate enjoy coming out to watch the skaters and enjoy the holiday magic it brings to our city.”
