2 women killed in Sacramento County shooting identified

The suspect in the double homicide died on April 11 after shooting himself near Arden Fair Mall.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Two women who were killed in a Sacramento County shooting during the second week of April have been identified.

The two women were identified Monday as 35-year-old Laverda Robinson and 32-year-old Joresse Williams, according to the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.

The shooting happened on April 10 along the 1100 block of Howe Avenue, according to Sgt. Amar Gandhi, spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.

Two women were shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex and died at the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspect in the double homicide died on April 11 after shooting himself near Arden Fair Mall. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said Ricky Hunter, 32, is the suspect in the double homicide that happened along Howe Avenue.

Gandhi says deputies tracked Hunter to the AT&T store near the mall but waited to arrest him until he got into his car.

Gandhi says Hunter grabbed a shotgun and shot himself in the chest as deputies tried to arrest him. Officials said detectives converged on him at gunpoint before Hunter shot himself.

Detectives treated him at the scene with a chest seal until he was taken to a hospital. However, in an update, the sheriff's office said the suspect ultimately died.
