AMADOR COUNTY, Calif. — The Dollar General in Pioneer was deemed a total loss after its roof collapsed Thursday evening.
Amador Fire Protection District was dispatched around 6:30 p.m. Thursday to a commercial structure alarm at the Dollar General in Pioneer.
Crews arrived to find the roof of the building collapsed. It was eventually deemed a total loss. Kayla Dale, spokesperson for the fire district, said the mix of rain and snow on the buildings flat roof caused the collapse, and the walls caved in as a result.
She said four people were in the building at the time, but everyone made it out safely. No one was hurt.
She said this was Amador Fire's first response to a roof collapse during the recent rain and snow.
