'Over-the-top' waffle, ice cream shop slated to make NorCal debut in Elk Grove

The Dolly Llama is preparing to enter the Sacramento market by opening its first store in Elk Grove this summer.

ELK GROVE, Calif. — Elk Grove is preparing to become the landing spot for a growing waffle and ice cream shop's Northern California expansion.

The Dolly Llama is a Los Angeles-based shop known for what it describes as "over-the-top" waffle and ice cream concoctions.

“The Dolly Llama is quickly making its mark across the US within the last year, with new locations in Texas, Florida, Nevada and New York,” said The Dolly Llama co-founder Eric Shomof. “To bring the shop to another amazing city within our home state is very exciting and gives us the opportunity to showcase our over-the-top waffle and ice cream desserts to a whole new market of guests.”

Those deserts are part of an artisanal menu with different flavors and techniques, ranging from the OG Liege Belgian waffle to the Hong Kong Bubble Waffle.

However, Elk Grove is just the first store expected to open. Franchise partner Dreams Inspired Inc. has plans to open more.

“We’re opening our first location in Elk Grove soon, a second location in Sacramento later this year and more in the works in Northern Nevada. There are several basic ice cream shops, but nothing like what The Dolly Llama has to offer, so we’re confident that the famed waffle and ice cream concept will be hugely successful in these communities," said Dreams Inspired Inc. in a news release.

The new Elk Grove location is located at 4810 Elk Grove Boulevard Suite 140 and is expected to open this summer.
