Elk Grove 'Salutes the red, white and blue' | Need to know

The City of Elk Grove is set to celebrate the Fourth of July at the Elk Grove Regional Park with a firework show and a pie eating contest.

ELK GROVE, Calif. —

The City of Elk Grove's Salute the Red, White and Blue will not only celebrate the Fourth of July with a fireworks show but with a bike and stroller parade as well. 

The "Let Freedom Ride Bike and Stroller Parade" will allow participants to deck out anything with wheels, like bikes and strollers, with free decorations such as streamers. Participants will be guided through an internal path of the park by an  Elk Grove City Police officer on a bike.  

A pie eating contest is also scheduled for the event. The following divisions and prizes are as follows: 

  • 18 and up: $100 Raley's and Bel Air gift card
  • 13 to 17: $25 Raley's and Bel Air gift card
  • 5 to 12 (slice of a pie): $25 Raley's and Bel Air gift card

The event will also feature 10 free carnival games that offer prizes.  

An 80s inspired rock band called Spazmatics is scheduled to play at the event.

Where: Elk Grove Regional Park (9950 Elk Grove Florin, Elk Grove, California 95624).

When: Gates open at 7 a.m. and the event is scheduled to run until 10 p.m.

Cost: The event is free and parking will be $10.
