Rancho Cordova welcomes Express Sushi and Teriyaki from Carmichael

Gor Smbatyan owns Express Sushi. He said he wanted to bring his restaurant and a “good time” to his hometown of Rancho Cordova through good food.

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — Express Sushi and Teriyaki hosted a grand opening Monday celebrating its second Sacramento-area location.

Gor Smbatyan is the owner and operator of Express Sushi, and he told ABC10 he’s lived in Rancho Cordova all his life. He opened his restaurant’s second location, located in Rancho Cordova, because he wanted to bring a good time to his childhood home by providing good food.

Smbatyan lived a truly Rancho Cordova experience. He went to Mills Middle School, graduated Cordova High School then enrolled in classes at Sacramento State.

He opened Express Sushi’s first location in Carmichael in 2013. He learned most everything he knows about sushi when he opened the first location, he said.

Smbatyan said Monday’s grand opening was rewarding and he hopes city residents will enjoy the food he brought them.

“Being in this business for so long and seeing hard work pay off, I just wish the city of Rancho Cordova joins us in our journey and…gives us at least one try,” he said. “I’m sure they won’t be disappointed.”

The grand opening included a ribbon cutting and recognition from the likes of the Rancho Cordova Area Chamber of Commerce and Assemblyman Josh Hoover.

Smbatyan said there are plans to open a third location in the future.

The Rancho Cordova location is at 10113 Folsom Blvd.
