Man forced his way into Fairfield home before sexual assault, police say

Police said they can expect an increased police presence in the area as they do additional patrols.

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — March 14 Update: Fairfield home invasion investigation concludes, police say no crime was committed and they were given incorrect information

An investigation is underway after a man forced his way into a home and committed a sexual assault Wednesday in Fairfield.

The Fairfield Police Department said the assault happened in a neighborhood on the east side of the city, bordered by Gramercy Circle. 

Police said the victim was in their home around 6:30 p.m. when the man forced his way inside and committed the assault.

The suspect was last seen wearing a dark-colored hoodie sweater and was described as a man, possibly 25, of Hispanic or Pacific Islander descent, with a thin build and short brown beard.

Police said the victim and suspect didn't know each other.

No additional details are available as the investigation continues. Police are asking people to check their home and vehicle video recordings and report anything suspicious to 707-428-7300.
