Man killed in two-vehicle accident on I-5 in south Sacramento

CHP’s preliminary investigation found a 19-year-old man from Antioch was speeding in an Infiniti when he crashed into the back of a Ford van.

ELK GROVE, Calif. — A 19-year-old Antioch man was killed Saturday night in a two-vehicle accident on I-5 northbound near Hood.

According to a California Highway Patrol collision report, it happened around 9:15 Saturday on I-5N, south of Hood Franklin Road.

CHP’s preliminary investigation found a 19-year-old man from Antioch was speeding in an Infiniti when he crashed into the back of a Ford van.

The crash pushed the van into the shoulder while the Infiniti hit the center divider, overturned and ejected the driver. The driver died from his injuries and his passenger had major injuries.

The driver of the van wasn't hurt.

CHP says it has not yet determined if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. The driver of the Infiniti hasn’t been identified yet.
