Man dies after crashing into Goodwin Creek in Stanislaus County

When officers arrived they found a Ram pickup truck fully submerged in Goodwin Creek.

STANISLAUS COUNTY, Calif. — A man died after crashing into Goodwin Creek in Stanislaus County on Saturday.

California Highway Patrol got a call around 11:10 a.m. about a crash near Highway 132 and La Grange Dam Road. 

When officers arrived they found a Ram pickup truck fully submerged in Goodwin Creek. A dive team with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office found a man inside the truck who had died. He was the only person in the truck.

Based on CHP's initial investigation, the man was driving eastbound on the highway when he went into the westbound lane and hit a metal guardrail. The driver then went down a dirt embankment into Goodwin Creek. It's unclear exactly when the crash happened and the man's identity hasn't been released.

CHP is investigating the crash.
