Person dies in Ceres house fire, investigation underway

The fire happened in the 3900 block of Central Avenue in Ceres around 5:45 p.m. Friday.

CERES, Calif. — A person was killed in a Ceres mobile home fire Friday evening, according to the Modesto Fire Department

Fire fighters say they were called to the 3900 block of Central Avenue in Ceres around 5:45 p.m. about a fire with someone who may have still been inside the structure. 

Crews found an "elderly occupant" inside the mobile home and took them to the hospital where they later were pronounced dead. The fire was put out before it could spread to any nearby structures. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. 

An investigation by the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit is underway and the identity of the victim will be released at a later time. No other information is available.
