2 people killed in crash on Highway 108 in Sonora

Justin Brasiel and Nikole Brasiel were taken to Adventist Health Sonora where they later died, according to CHP.

SONORA, Calif. — Two people from Modesto were killed in a crash in Sonora Saturday afternoon along Highway 108.

Justin Brasiel and Nikole Brasiel were on a motorcycle on Highway 108 near South Washington Street around 4:30 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol. The light turned red on Highway 108 and the motorcycle continued into the intersection and crashed into a car that had entered the intersection when the light turned green.

Both people on the motorcycle were ejected and people in the area started lifesaving measures until emergency personnel arrived. Justin Brasiel and Nikole Brasiel were taken to Adventist Health Sonora where they later died. They were both wearing helmets, according to CHP.

CHP is investigating the crash.
