Railcar fire under investigation near Modesto

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

MODESTO, Calif. — A railcar fire near Modesto is under investigation Tuesday.

A spokesperson with the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District told ABC10 a fire on the railroad tracks was reported around 5:50 a.m. along Garner Road near Highway 132. Crews arrived and found a railcar on fire. The fire was put out and contained to a single railcar.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Multiple roads were closed near Highway 132 including Claus Road to Creek Road. Other roads were also closed in the area including Yosemite Boulevard at McClure Road and Yosemite Boulevard at Garner Road. The roads have since reopened.
