Parent sues Elk Grove Unified alleging 'dangerous' playground after her child fell

Jennifer Brown says her 12-year-old fell off a Franklin Elementary School play structure.

ELK GROVE, Calif. — The Elk Grove Unified School District is facing a lawsuit from a parent alleging their 12-year-old student was injured on a Franklin Elementary School playground.

Jennifer Brown's lawsuit alleges the play structure was in "dangerous, damaged or defective conditions" when her child fell off the edge in March 2023.

The lawsuit alleges the child's injuries from the fall will result in some permanent disability, requiring her to see physicians, surgeons and other medical providers for treatment.

Brown is suing for personal injury and damages in excess of $25,000.

An Elk Grove Unified School District representative told ABC10 they do not comment on ongoing litigation.

The Franklin Elementary School play structure named in the lawsuit is located at 5401 Dorcey Drive, Elk Grove.
