Sacramento County park rangers arrest suspects for illegally dumping thousands of tires

Nearly 34 tons of illegally dumped tires were hauled off Sacramento County Regional Parks property, and rangers say they may be tied to recently-arrested suspects.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — Sacramento County Regional Parks rangers recently arrested several suspects they say were caught illegally dumping tires near Mather Regional Park.

According to rangers, the suspects may be tied to nearly 34 tons of illegally dumped tires across Sacramento and Placer County.

Rangers say thousands of tires were dumped across the area between January and March, including at Deer Creek Hills Preserve, prompting law enforcement to launch a surveillance operation in hopes of catching the suspects.

After the suspects were seen using a moving truck to dump tires on Dyer Lane, rangers say the suspects returned to a tire shop where they loaded more tires for dumping.

They were booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail after being caught dumping tires at Eagles Nest Road.

Sacramento County Waste Management and Recycling Department workers collected the illegally dumped tires and took them to Kiefer Landfill where they are taken to another facility for recycling.
