2019 California State Fair: 7 new things to try at the fair this year

The 2019 California State Fair is set to operate from July 12 to July 28. Here is what you need to know about the new upcoming attractions.

SACRAMENTO, California — The California State Fair is returning to Cal Expo on July 12, and its bringing with it everything from a celebration of fair food to Esports tournaments. 

Here are some of the new attractions that will be at the 2019 California State Fair. 

1. CA State Fair Food Festival 2019

ABC10's Mark Allen will be hosting the California State Food Festival

It is $28 for admission, and it comes with four tickets that allow attendees to trade them in for food items from vendors who are competing in the food festival. 

There are a limited number of tickets for the food festival on sale.

2. California State Fair Bear Cup Esports Tournament

The California State Fair is hosting the first California State Fair Esports Bear Cup Tournament that features Fortnite, Overwatch, NBA2K,  Apex Legend and Smash Bros. 

Participants have to pay $12 to sign up either online or at the fair. The prize money amount depends on how many contestants signed up.

3. Bank of America Selfie Experience

Inspired by the Museum of Ice Cream in San Francisco, Stage Nine Exhibits created an attraction that will allow attendees to take selfies against unique backdrops such as one inspired by Willy Wonka and one called "Jurassic Dark." 

4. Drone Light Show presented by Dish

The California State Fair is replacing its firework show with a drone light show. The Great Lakes Drone Company is going to use 80 drones in a synchronized performance that uses changing LED lights to choreographed music.

5. Outstanding in their Field 

Outstanding in their Field is an exhibit that aims to educate attendants about California's agriculture and crops by featuring food items like cherries, peaches, olive oil, pears and honey.  

6. Goat Mountain

Goat Mountain is going to have both adult and baby goats hanging out on a mound that is going to have a pen and a hand-washing station. 

7. Incredible Me Exhibit

The Incredible Me Exhibit is for children who are 12 and younger and will allow children to create their own superhero identity and costume.
