One dead, one injured in south Sacramento shooting, sheriff says | UPDATE

The sheriff's department initially said three people were shot, but later confirmed that only the man and woman were hit.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — UPDATE: Nov. 6, 10:45 a.m.

One man was killed and one woman was injured Tuesday evening following a shooting in south Sacramento, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

The department identified the man only as a 29-year-old who was shot and was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

The 47-year-old woman was transported to the hospital with an upper body gunshot wound. Sheriff's officials said she was responsive, but her current condition is unknown.

There is no suspect information or motive available.

One person is dead and two others are injured after a shooting in South Sacramento, Tuesday evening.

The shooting happened in the 3900 block of 42nd Avenue. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, a man and two women all suffered gunshot wounds. More than 20 shots were fired, according to investigators.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The two women were taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

Authorities have not released any details about what led up to the shooting nor have they said anything about a possible suspect or suspects.
