Sacramento ranks fifth in worst drivers in America. Believe it or not, that's an improvement.

Quote Wizard conducted an annual study that features California more times than any other state to have the worst drivers in the country.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — If you thought Sacramento has the worst drivers in America, you would be wrong; Portland has the worst drivers, but Sacramento isn't far behind. The capital city ranked fifth-worst in the country, according to an annual study by Quote Wizard.

Believe it or not, this is actually an improvement.

Sacramento was previously ranked as the top city for the worst drivers in the nation. Quote Wizard said Sacramento is almost always at the top of the rankings because the city has had the worst ratings in accidents and DUIs.

Sacramento is lower in the rankings this year because the city improved its rate of speeding tickets, according to Quote Wizard.

Sacramento is not the only city within California to be featured on the list. California has the most cities that have the worst drivers in America, according to the study.

The California cities that also earned a spot on Quote Wizard's list  are as follows:

  • San Francisco
  • Fresno
  • Bakersfield
  • San Diego
  • Los Angeles

New York and South Carolina are tied to have the second-highest number of cities that made its way on the worst drivers in America list with three cities.
