Daughter of Sacramento Kings owner resigns Stockton Kings general manager position

Anjali Ranadivé resigned just one month after former Stockton Kings center Chance Comanche was arrested in a Las Vegas murder and kidnapping case.

STOCKTON, Calif. — Stockton Kings general manager Anjali Ranadivé resigned from her position, Friday.

Ranadivé stepped down to pursue a Ph.D. and focus her attention on her nonprofit organization, Jaws and Paws, according to a Sacramento Kings news release. The Stockton Kings are Sacramento’s G League affiliate.

Jaws and Paws serves as a haven for rescue wolf-dogs and supports women in conservation, according to its website.

Her exit takes place amidst the G League season. Last season, she served as the team’s assistant general manager under Paul Johnson and before that was an intern with the Golden State Warriors.

The Stockton Kings’ current assistant general manager Gabriel Harris will assume her responsibilities, the release said.

Ranadivé is the daughter of Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé. She was hired as the Stockton team’s general manager on June 20, 2023, at the same time former WNBA No.1 draft pick Lindsey Harding was hired head coach, the Associated Press reported.

The move marked the first time a G League team simultaneously had women in those roles.

Ranadivé’s resignation comes just over one month after former Stockton Kings center Chance Comanche was arrested as a suspect in Marayna Rodgers’ murder and kidnapping in Las Vegas in early December 2023.

Comanche was released from the team Dec. 15, 2023, after his arrest. He was extradited to Nevada Dec. 31, 2023.

“We are grateful to Anjali for her contributions to the Stockton Kings over the past two seasons,” said Sacramento Kings general manager Monte McNair. “Under her leadership the team has excelled on the court and is set for success in the future.”

In a statement, Ranadivé expressed gratitude to loyal Kings’ fans for their support.

“I am incredibly thankful to Monte, Lindsey and Paul for the tremendous opportunity,” Ranadivé said.
