'Brought smiles to everyone': Vigil remembers teen killed underneath Tower Bridge

Kirill Trush was a sophomore at Center High School in Antelope. A vibrant spirit with an infectious smile is how friends describe him.

ANTELOPE, Calif. — High school friends of 16-year-old Kirill Trush gathered Friday evening beneath the Tower Bridge to honor a life lost too soon.

Trush was killed last weekend underneath the bridge and his family and friends hope to find him justice.

“Sunshine, like on a rainy day, that was him,” said Isabella Plasichuk. “He just brought smiles to everyone. All the time, and he was the funniest guy.”

Trush was a sophomore at Center High School in Antelope. Friends describe him as a vibrant spirit with an infectious smile.

“He was such a good friend. I could not have asked for a better friend,” said Plasichuk.

“He was really great friend. Always positive,” said Antonio Ascano, Trush’s friend.

The teen’s death leaving those he knew heartbroken.

“This has been so hard because he was only 16,” said Angelina Zhuravskaya, a relative of Trush’s. “His life was not supposed to end there.”

Zhuravskaya, Trush's cousin, was one of the few family members who attended the vigil.

“When I found out the news, I was completely heartbroken. I could not stop screaming. He was like my little brother and my friend, not just my nephew,” said Zhuravskaya.

The West Sacramento Police Department says it received a call Saturday Evening about a person bleeding underneath the Tower Bridge. Officers found Trush with multiple stab wounds and pronounced him dead.

Investigators say a fight led to the stabbing, but no other details about the incident have been released.

Friends at a time in their lives, chasing dreams and making memories. Hoping they could do it all together. Now, dealing without one of their own.

“It is nice to see how many friends he had that cared about him,” said Zhuravskaya.

West Sacramento police says the homicide investigation is ongoing. No suspect information has been released yet, but police say there is no outstanding threat to the community.
