A Woodland woman, who lost her legs due to an infection, is adjusting to new life with prosthetic legs from her community.

"The community has been so amazing, and I feel like that's what this whole venture has turned into," says Wendi Locatelli, amputee.

Locatelli, mother of three young children, says the infection started around her stomach and spread throughout her body. She had her arm and legs amputated a few months ago.

People throughout the community held fundraisers to help her family -- so far, they've raised more than $150,000.

Some prosthetic legs can run up to $50,000 for each leg.

Locatelli's now learning to walk again and adjust to her new life with prosthetic legs. Once she's adjusted to her new legs, she'll be learning how to use prosthetic arms.

She says her motivation comes from making her family proud. Over the weekend she got to show her kids her new legs.

"My husband was like look at mommy! Look how proud of her we are and that's the greatest feeling in the world when I can tell my family is proud of me," said Locatelli.
