Here's what's in the Presidential oath of office

The President of the United States takes the oath of office when sworn into office. It's just 35 words.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The President of the United States takes the oath of office when sworn into office. The Constitution of the United States, states in Article 2, Section 1 the incoming president should take the oath or affirm that: 

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

The oath of office is considered the official end of the previous term and the beginning of the new president's time in office.
