Student dies after falling from pole at Northwest Lineman College in Oroville

Police say the 19-year-old student was using the pole for educational purposes when it failed, causing the student to fall with it.

OROVILLE, Calif. — A student at Northwest Lineman College in Oroville died Monday after falling from a pole.

According to the Oroville Police Department, someone from the college called 911 about a student injury.

Upon arrival, officers found a man with injuries after falling from a pole used for training. He died from his injuries at the scene.

Police found the victim, an unidentified 19-year-old male student, was using the pole for educational purposes when it failed, causing him to fall.

Because the fall and death happened during regular teaching hours, police requested the Butte County Sheriff’s Office Chaplaincy program offer counseling services to students and witnesses.

The investigation into the death is ongoing.
