Man escapes fiery Sacramento County crash with minor injuries

The crash happened on Sunrise and Gold Country boulevards in Gold River around 4 p.m. and involved three cars.

GOLD RIVER, Calif. — A man got away with only minor injuries after a fiery crash in Sacramento County Thursday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on Sunrise and Gold Country boulevards in Gold River around 4 p.m. CHP says a man driving a Nissan Altima was heading northbound on Sunrise when a woman driving a Lexus SUV westbound on Gold Country Blvd. turned right on the red light.

The cars hit each other, then the Nissan hit a stopped Kia Telluride and caught fire. The Nissan was entirely engulfed in flames but officials say the man inside only had minor injuries. The other two drivers weren't hurt in the crash.

The fire was extinguished and the road was closed for about an hour while crews cleaned up the area. Traffic should be flowing again.
