Moderate to major heat risk will impact the valley and foothills causing potential for heat related illness. Those sensitive to heat are advised to limit time outside and stay cool in air conditioned places.

High pressure will build over the western US and coastline, pushing the jet stream and any significant cooling further north into Canada. As the heat builds, overnight lows will not recover well. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning lows are expected to be in the upper 60s and low 70s for the valley and foothills.

Mountain thunderstorms are also expected to return as another surge on monsoonal moisture comes in from the desert southwest. Thunderstorms and isolated downpours are possible for the Sierra and even foothill areas Tuesday through Thursday.
