More fire weather next week?

Long-range weather models are showing the possibility for a storm next week that could bring breezy winds leading to fire weather concerns.

An approaching storm system may impact the Central Valley next week with light mountain showers along with breezy winds.  Keep in mind, during this time of the year, we have extremely dry fuels throughout the Central Valley. Therefore, if and when winds pick up, a spark could very easily burn out of control before firefighters have the chance to intervene.

The time frame we're most concerned about next week is Tuesday through Wednesday. Our Futurecast shows at 9 a.m. on Tuesday the chance of rainfall along the northern coastline of California.

The Futurecast shows at 11 p.m. on Tuesday a chance of light mountain showers. On this graphic, green shows light rain showers, pink shows a chance for a rain/snow mix and the blue and white on this graphic shows an opportunity for light snowfall in the mountains.

The Futurecast shows at 7 a.m. on Wednesday the chance for precipitation has pushed to the east of the Sierra Mountain Range.

Our concern is, as this storm system moves through the area during this time frame winds are expected to pick up and could introduce high fire danger for many areas in the Northern California.
