Man killed overnight in Stanislaus County

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office said the victim was the first person to call first responders. Despite rushing him to a hospital, he was pronounced dead.

SALIDA, Calif. — A homicide investigation is underway in Stanislaus County after a man was killed overnight.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office responded to a business parking lot on the 4300 block of Salida Boulevard around 10 p.m. on Monday after getting reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Arriving deputies found a man in a car with life-threatening injuries and rushed him to the hospital. Despite the efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing. 

Deputies identified the victim as Jamal Nejat, 30 of Salida. Authorities said Nejat made first 911 call himself, which resulted in an immediate emergency response.
