Man shot, killed in car in Rancho Cordova identified

The shooting was reported along the 10000 block of Coloma Road on Monday.

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — A man killed in a shooting in Rancho Cordova has been identified as 30-year-old Todd Thornton, the Rancho Cordova Police Department said Friday.

Few details surrounding the shooting and what led up to it have been released at this time, however, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said it was deadly.

The shooting was reported along the 10000 block of Coloma Road around 9:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9. Deputies found Thornton shot multiple times inside a vehicle at an apartment complex and ultimately he was pronounced dead on the scene.

The shooting is under investigation.
