2 people killed in Tracy wrong-way crash identified

It's not clear if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.

TRACY, Calif. — The two people killed in wrong-way crash in Tracy were identified as Azucena Perez, 32 of Fort Bragg, and Harold Liberty IV, 19 of Antioch.

The San Joaquin Medical Examiner's Office confirmed their identities with ABC10 on Monday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 2 a.m. Sunday when a 2007 Honda Accord crashed head-on into a 2023 Kia Telluride along I-580, just west of Corral Hollow Road in Tracy.

Both vehicles overturned with the driver of the Honda, Liberty, being thrown into the center median. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Kia, Perez, was taken to hospital where she ultimately died from her injuries.

A 35-year-old man and a 2-month-old girl had major injuries and a 4-year-old boy had minor injuries. All three were from Fort Bragg and were taken to a hospital for treatment.

It's not clear if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
