2 dead after separate accidents in Yuba-Sutter area

The two accidents happened about an hour apart early Monday morning.

SUTTER COUNTY, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol is investigating two separate, fatal crashes in the Yuba-Sutter area early Monday morning.

The first one happened around 2:30 a.m. on Garden Highway near Barry Road in Sutter County.

CHP says they were called about a single-vehicle accident where a vehicle went off the road and crashed into a tree. Upon arrival, emergency personnel pronounced the driver dead.

The unidentified 32-year-old Yuba City man was found by a relative who went looking for him after he didn’t show up to work.

CHP says the man was wearing a seatbelt and neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected in the crash.

The second crash happened around 3:40 a.m. on Marysville Road, north of Everglade Trail in Yuba County.

CHP says 19-year-old Miguel Lopez was driving south on Marysville Road when he collided with a 26-year-old driver from Oakland. The driver from Oakland was pronounced dead and Lopez was taken to the hospital with major injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
