Westbound I-80 reopens west of Soda Springs after crash

California Highway Patrol said a big rig hit the back of a Caltrans sander which resulted in the cab of the big rig being detached from the truck.

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — Westbound I-80 reopened west of Soda Springs after a crash in Placer County Monday.

California Highway Patrol said a big rig hit the back of a Caltrans sander which resulted in the cab of the big rig being detached from the truck.

The drivers of both vehicles have minor injuries, according to CHP. Traffic along westbound I-80 was being turned at the state line and Donner Gate in Truckee but has since reopened. The crash is under investigation.
