Folsom’s Crawdads on the Lake plans May opening

One Crawdads owner said they purchased the spot at 9900 Greenback Lane once the opportunity arose due to its “unprecedented” view of Lake Natoma.

FOLSOM, Calif. — Crawdads on the Lake, a Folsom spinoff of Sacramento’s Crawdads on the River, aims to open just after Memorial Day in a space that used to be the Cliff House of Folsom.

Trevor Shults, who co-owns the Crawdads brand with Todd Zancaner, told ABC10 Thursday they purchased the spot at 9900 Greenback Lane once the opportunity arose due to its “unprecedented” view of Lake Natoma. Now, the pair are renovating.

Renovations include expanding the existing outdoor patio, creating a centralized bar servicing both indoor and outdoor patrons, adding a stage for live music and all-around updating the property.

“It’s been around for a long time, and it just needed a little tender love and care,” Shults said.

He hopes the Folsom location will host a soft opening just after Memorial Day in May with something larger in June.

“What’s unique about Crawdads on the River and (Crawdads) on the Lake is the proximity to water,” Shults said. “It’s a very unique brand with great food, great music and great views.”

Crawdads on the Lake will be the franchise’s second location. When asked if there are plans for more, Shults said it’s possible.

“I don’t know if there’s many locations that would fit our brand like this one, but you never know,” he said.
