LOOMIS, Calif. — A new Costco is now open in Placer County.
The long-awaited location in Loomis opened to long lines and excited shoppers Thursday.
The Costco is located at 4101 Sierra College Blvd., near the border of Rocklin.
The Placer County Sheriff's Office warned about heavy traffic in the area of Sierra College Boulevard and Taylor Road.
Loomis Mayor Stephanie Youngblood said Costco is a "win-win" for the community as it'll bring in new jobs, visitors and revenue to the town.
"I'm excited because first of all for a lot of us, we had to drive to Roseville to go to Costco and it's very busy over there in general because of the Galleria mall and all the other things that are going on in Stanford Ranch and not only that, we get to shop in our own backyard," Youngblood said.
The new Costco has a tire service center, pharmacy, optical department, hearing aids services and food court. There isn't a gas station, though.

It'll be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This Costco location is long-awaited after years of back and forth between Loomis and Rocklin. They reached an agreement to build Costco in October 2022.
As part of the agreement, Costco will make about $3.75 million in payments to Rocklin to mitigate impacts along the Sierra College Boulevard corridor, according to the settlement.
Costco in Loomis won't have a gas station, according to the settlement.
The 155,000-square-foot warehouse could bring more than $1 million in annual tax revenue for Loomis. It would be the largest commercial development in the town's history.
Nearby, a Costco in West Roseville is planned at the northwest corner of Baseline Road and Fiddyment Road. Costco already has a location in Roseville at 6750 Stanford Ranch Road near the Westfield Galleria at Roseville.
