Roseville man dies after crash on Riego Road

The California Highway Patrol said a 24-year-old man was driving eastbound on Riego Road east of Pacific Avenue around 3 p.m.

SUTTER COUNTY, Calif. — A Roseville man died Thursday after a two-vehicle crash in Sutter County.

The California Highway Patrol said a 24-year-old man was driving eastbound on Riego Road east of Pacific Avenue around 3 p.m.

A 55-year-old Sacramento man was driving a truck westbound on Riego Road with a trailer carrying a Bobcat tractor. There was a 27-year-old Sacramento man who was a passenger in the truck.

The 24-year-old man crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the truck. He was trapped inside the vehicle and died at the scene. His identity hasn't been released.

The 55-year-old was taken to a hospital with major injuries and the 27-year-old passenger had complaints of pain, according to CHP.

Alcohol or drugs aren't suspected as factors in the crash, according to CHP. The crash is under investigation.
