SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Across the Sacramento area, some trees have caused big damage due to a winter storm - the impacts of which people are still living with.
One of those terrifying moments happened in South Sacramento, when a tree crashed into Debbie Passow's home.
"It was very scary, and I had to end up sleeping in my car all night," said Passow.
She was scared that the tree would come right into her bedroom. Three days later, the danger she's worried about is in powerlines that were knocked down in her backyard.
"SMUD came last night and said they were live wires. They gave me a tag that says they were dangerous," said Passow.
Meanwhile, in South Land Park, power is still out to several homes.
"I keep getting alerts, be prepared for another night. Be prepared for tomorrow," said Sandy Khan, who is lighting her home with lanterns and a few logs in the fireplace.
She's also concerned about a branch dangling precariously over another powerline in her backyard.
"If it stays in place we’re OK, but if it goes, it’s probably going take out another pole," said Khan.
SMUD said there are 60 power poles that need to be replaced in the Sacramento area. Each of them taking more than eight hours for a crew to complete.
"Sitting on the phone listening to that loud music gave me a migraine yesterday. I just need help. I can’t do this on my own. They won’t listen to me. I need help," said Passow.
Some customers are now at their wits end.
SMUD said crews are working around the clock and that help is coming. And for many customers, it can't come soon enough.
