Officer hurt during Stockton sideshow

Police do not have information on a suspect.

STOCKTON, Calif. — A Stockton Police Department officer was left with minor injuries after sideshow spectators allegedly began throwing objects at the officer's car Saturday night, the department said.

The sideshow was reported around 10:05 p.m. Saturday at Madison Street and Eighth Street in south Stockton. When an officer tried to take enforcement action at the sideshow, spectators allegedly began throwing objects such as bottles at the officer's car.

One bottle hit the car shattering the windshield and leaving the officer with minor injuries, according to police.

Authorities do not have any information on a suspect. The sideshow was one of multiple reported across the city Saturday night.

At an earlier sideshow that took over an intersection in front of the Stockton Arena, spectators were caught on camera spraying a water gun at and throwing a ball at a Stockton Unified Department of Public Safety officer's car.

The officer backed away from the area before the sideshow eventually broke up. The sideshow happened as some people were leaving the arena which hosted nationally-televised professional fights Saturday night.

Police say around 40 cars were involved in the sideshow outside of the arena.
