Purple takes over Stockton as G-League Kings head to Western Conference Finals

From City Hall to the Adventist Health Arena, the color purple is taking over downtown Stockton as playoff excitement grows.

STOCKTON, Calif. — Parts of downtown Stockton are turning purple as excitement grows ahead of the second home playoff game for the Stockton Kings.

On Sunday, the G-League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings will take on the Oklahoma City Blues in a Western Conference Final. The Kings punched their ticket to the conference final by defeating the Santa Cruz Warriors at home Thursday 109-112.

The playoff appearance marks the second consecutive year that the team has made it to the postseason and the third time since relocating to Stockton in 2018.

Each night since the team's first playoff game, the Adventist Health Arena and downtown's City Hall have been illuminated in purple.

Earlier in the week, crews refreshed the purple paint in the crosswalk and intersection in front of the arena. The crosswalk was initially painted to celebrate last season's playoff run and hadn't been refreshed until Tuesday.

" The City is proud to support the Stockton Kings in making it to the 2024 playoffs," the City of Stockton said in a Facebook post. "Join us to cheer on the Kings."

As of Saturday afternoon, more than 60 tickets were still available for Sunday's matchup. For more information on how and when to watch the game, click HERE.

The 209 is ready for PLAYOFF basketball! Don't miss the purple crosswalks outside of the arena on Fremont St & Madison St.
