Plaster spill snarls traffic on Business 80 near Arden Fair Mall | Update

The plaster spill happened near the Arden Way exit on NB Business 80 and temporarily blocked all but one lane of the highway, officials said.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Traffic on the northbound side of Business 80 is moving slowly after a large amount of a white stucco product spilled onto the highway Wednesday, according to Caltrans.

The plaster spill happened near the Arden Way exit on NB Business 80 and temporarily blocked all but one lane of the highway, officials said. It caused traffic to be backed up from the area of the spill all the way to Highway 50 interchange.

It is unclear if the spill occurred due to a crash or something else. No word of injuries at this time.

Although the area is once again opened to traffic, authorities ask drivers to stay alert when driving in the area as crews are still on the scene cleaning up.

Caltrans officials originally thought the spilled substance was paint, but later said the substance was a "stucco product."
