Excitement builds in foothills with chance of low snow in Northern California

For the most part, residents say they're ready, even if the event is short-lived.

AUBURN, Calif. — In Auburn, the week is off to a bright start, but that sunshine could turn into snow as the week ends.

ABC10's meteorologists say snow levels are predicted to drop throughout Thursday and Friday morning, potentially as low as 500 feet in elevation. That could mean snow for areas like Auburn.

"We've lived here since 2012, and it has snowed a couple times. The one time... it stuck around for at least a week cause it was cold enough. So we're looking forward to the event coming up. I hope it's a couple inches," said Richard Bright, who lives in Auburn.

Residents say they're thrilled to see if the snow will actually stick.

"I hope we see a little bit of it just cause, for the change and all that," said Tom Stout, an Auburn native. "I hope they get a lot more up on the hill, and we just keep putting snow in the bank there so to speak and all. But I'm anxious to see what it's like again."

Richard and Cindy Bright were at Home Depot Monday getting some last-minute items. The couple feels prepared and recommends wrapping pipes and having a generator in case the power goes out.

"When the power, PG&E goes down, which it goes down more often than you'd think or that we would like, but yeah, we have a whole house generator that kicks in," said Richard Bright.

For the most part, residents say they're ready, even if the event is short-lived.

"We're happy that the snow shows up, but we're also happy when it goes away," said Bright.
