Aftermath of New Year's Eve storm leaves some in dark for a 4th day

As another storm system hits Northern California, locals are preparing for a long week ahead.

CLARKSBURG, Calif. — Some people in Clarksburg, a rural town in Yolo County, are still off the grid, going without power nearly four days since the New Year's Eve storm.

"Our power went out on new years eve at around 8 o'clock, and we haven't seen it since," said Aaron Brincko, resident.

He and nearly 900 customers are without power, as shown on PG&E's outage map Wednesday.

However, Brincko said he's one of the lucky ones.

"We've got a generator, so we're able to get by. But it makes for an adventure," said Brincko.

PG&E said four power poles need to be replaced in the Clarksburg area, including one on Clarksburg Road.

A PG&E spokesperson told ABC10 crews can't safely access the area due to flooding. Once the water recedes, they said crews can begin work on the poles.

But as another storm system hits Northern California, locals are preparing for a long week ahead.

"Certainly, there's the concern of trees. There's trees down. There's a lot of power poles down in the area, so trees are somewhat concerning," said Brincko.

Winds and rain picked up Wednesday evening both in Clarksburg and beyond. North of Clarksburg in Granite Bay, more than 1,600 PG&E customers temporarily lost power. In Loomis, around 1,400 customers were faced with outages due to weather, according to the PG&E outage map.

Power has since been restored for most customers in both communities.

Back in Clarksburg, despite the New Year's Eve storm knocking out power to Brincko and his neighbors, he's still in good spirits.

"That happens with these storms, and we're definitely appreciative to the PG&E linemen and linemen that are out there that are trying to restore power for folks," said Brincko.

PG&E said they apologize to customers for the inconvenience and will work as quickly and as safely as possible to begin those necessary repairs once the flooding recedes.
