Butte County Sheriff seeks child molestation suspect

The Butte County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help in locating Mark Johnson for molesting a child younger than 14, according to the release.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. — The Butte County Sheriff's Office announced Monday it obtained an arrest warrant for a man suspect of child molestation. 

The Butte County Sheriff's Office said it was investigating Mark Johnson, 51, for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14-years-old and for failing to register as a sex offender, according to the press release.

The sheriff's office began investigating Johnson in November 2018. The investigation began after the sheriff's office learned Johnson was assaulting a minor.

The arrest warrant was obtained Oct. 18, according to the release.

The Butte County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who has information about Johnson's location to call (530)538-7671.
