SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Nearly a year after making the major announcement, Hawaiian airlines will begin daily nonstop flights between Sacramento and Maui.
On Tuesday, April 2, Hawaiian Airlines will launch the daily nonstop service utilizing the new state-of-the-art A321neo airbus.
Hawaiian launched its Sacramento-Honolulu service in June 2002, and, with the demand continuing to grow, the new route will offer more options and convenience to Sacramento guests, Sacramento International Airport spokesperson Samantha Mott said.
According to Mott, the addition of the Maui flight is great news for the airport and Sacramentans and highlights the constant growth going on at SMF.
Hawaiian joins Contour Airlines, Sun Country and Spirit, all with new flights this Spring. The airport is now facing record-setting 10 percent passenger growth year over year and expecting to serve more than 13 million passengers this year.

It currently has more than 175 nonstop day flights to more than 40 destinations, consequently experiencing significant growth. This comes eight years after completing a $1 billion expansion.
Southwest has also recently announced new daily flights to Hawaiian islands. Air Canada, Alaska, Delta, Volaris, Frontier and Hawaiian all also launched new service in the last year.
Airport officials say they are strategically planning to continue to be able to meet the demand and anticipate future growth.
“We are looking at how to meet this capacity, either with more gates or additional parking spaces,” Mott said. Mott also confirmed the airport is looking to potentially expand gate capacity to meet demand, especially during crunch times. “This is not a bad problem to have,” she added.
The Hawaiian Airlines nonstop flight from Sacramento to Maui departs at 8:30 a.m. and arrives at 11:30 a.m. The first non-stop flight from Maui to Sacramento departs at 12:45 p.m. and arrives at 8:55 p.m. in Sacramento.
