SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man suspected of killing a Sacramento resident and injuring another in a tunnel beneath Interstate 5 was recently arrested in Santa Cruz County, California Highway Patrol announced Thursday.
Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested 63-year-old Sacramento resident John Gavino and charged him with murder related to the deadly shooting from earlier this month.
CHP officers on April 7 responded to reports of a shooting in a tunnel beneath I-5 near Miller Regional Park and came upon a 41-year-old man deceased and a 50-year-old woman suffering severe but non-life-threatening injuries.
Gavino was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and has since been booked into the Sacramento County Jail.
