Semitruck crashes into Riverbank home after SUV allegedly runs stop sign

The crash happened around 7 a.m. in the area of Snedigar and Patterson roads.

RIVERBANK, Calif. — Two Riverbank families were displaced Wednesday after a semitruck crashed into their homes and injured two people, according to the Riverbank Police Services.

The crash happened around 7 a.m. in the area of Snedigar and Patterson roads.

Police say a 21-year-old woman driving an SUV north on Snedigar Road ran a stop sign and was hit by a semitruck heading eastbound on Patterson Road. The semi left the roadway and crashed into a duplex home, ending up in a bedroom where a 59-year-old man was sleeping.

Luckily, the man in the bedroom only had complaints of pain and the woman in the SUV broke her ankle and a rib. Both were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the semitruck driver was uninjured.

The two families living in the damaged duplex are now having housing provided to them by the Red Cross.

A power pole was also damaged in the crash.
