Yes, that was an earthquake. 5.2M aftershock strikes region early Friday morning

The U.S. Geological Survey says the aftershock struck around 3:18 a.m. Friday morning.

EAST SHORE, Calif. — A preliminary magnitude 5.2 aftershock earthquake struck north of Chico, California, early Friday morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the aftershock struck around 3:18 a.m. It was centered on Lake Almanor in Plumas County. 

People reported feeling the aftershock in Chico, Roseville, Natomas and northern Nevada.

This aftershock comes after a preliminary magnitude 5.5 earthquake that struck Thursday. The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck around 4:20 p.m.

According to USGS, smaller aftershocks are likely within the next week, with up to 33 magnitude 3 or higher.
